Chances are, when you're in elementary school, you might not even have social media, or know what it is. But it's never too early to learn how to use it properly.
Most social media websites make sure that you are above 13 before you join. This is because they want you to be safe and use social media responsibly, so it doesn’t affect you in the future. It’s best to listen and not make a social media account until you are 13.
Some of you may just use Netflix or Youtube to watch movies or clips, and that’s totally fine! But to stay safe, you should avoid posting comments on Youtube videos, and stay in the Kid’s Section to avoid inappropriate videos.
If you are thinking about creating an account, or already have one, you should let your parents know! Parents know what’s best for their kids and will help you stay safe on the internet. You should think about deleting it, and re-making it when you are older. On some sites, there are things that are not safe for children to look at! If you are not careful enough, you may end up seeing something you were not ready to see.
At the end of the day, children should spend some time away from the screen and spend time outside with their friends, family, and pets!
